Picture Learning Curve

I made significant progress toward using digital photography during the past 24 hours. The sizing thing is another matter. Either it's an inch square or it's just the right scale of too big and so the blog has big gap of space.

More learning ahead.

Hallowig quip

A young scenic designer friend saw the hallowigs and promptly called them SKULLETS....

To which the only possible reply was the affirmative nod and "knitting in front, party in back"....

My Very Special SP - Knitty SP4

I left for the day and tripped in the alley, tearing out the knees of the khakis, breaking a jar of soup, and spilling several contents of containers that should have been closed. I cursed, picked up major glass, tossed the remainder of the lunch, limped home, went BACK to check for more "my purse was OPEN when I fell?" debris, found the $20 which had escaped and been run over by the garbage truck, called in late, cleaned up, tended wounds, changed, and tried again to leave. Where are the silliest video cameras wherein we can cash in on dismally silly life moments when we need them?!?

My day is ending MUCH MUCH better. I'm about to leave work like real people do. I checked my mail to find a PACKAGE from my SP. Image hosted by Photobucket.com
There are beautiful jewels of yarn - some even wound, all ready for play. (If I solve camera this week, there shall be pictures.) There is an 8 sided box of Ibarra Mexican chocolate. And, perfect for ending a day which started with fall-down-go-boom, two therapeutic bath bombs, one of which will be exploding in a bath near me this very night.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! The yarn is dead gorgeous. Each feels luxurious, the colors are GORGEOUS, and I've not paid enough LYS attention to have seen the Classic Elite Beatrice! What a jewel!

You CAN see them now!

Ah, those golden gleaming hallowigs, they are done and yellow and silly and perfect with their hula-hoop skirts.

knit faster

One page-boy wig done, one mad night of knitting to go....

29 April 2005

Hasty knitting updates - the point of the whole thing, after all!

Bach 107 is a lingerer, hanging in a plastic grocery bag, reminding me with every pass down the hall that I have yet to weave in the last two ends & a couple strays, wash it, solve photo-documenting, and mail it to the happy parents & child.

Hallowig 1 of 2 is into the bangs and nearing the decreases. It has become a hobo affair - three long dark green dpns and a bamboo circ with red and green plastic markers and a pretty leafy marker from lippysyd - all tucked into bright yellow acrylic I found in the shop. I have three days for wanting them done. I have one week to BE done. Costumes! The actors are excited for knitted helmet hair.

Delayed the Hallowigs because I whipped up a XXXXXXX for la SP. Needs grafting. I may wait now until the Hallowigs are done.

Bach Socks (I forgot the cantata # again!) are nearing the first heel. Deferring now to wig and sp finishing.

Thinking digital camera ... letting go.... thinking camera ... Like Scarlett, I'll think about that tomorrow.

Where's the Knitting?

Not unlike the 8th grade prophecy & will, which had to do with a thesaurus and a professor...

and the winner is...

A frog....
Knit 2 inches in two nights and realized I wouldn't have enough for the last inch of garter. Frogged back. Shouldn't work on it tonight but I will.

Need to think about this digital photography process.... Document that work. Flash (albeit late) that stash.

Bach 107, cantata and stash eater

I’ve just about finished Bach 107, the baby blanket which will have eaten up just about the full complement of acrylic baby yarns in the stacked stash.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Knit into the afghan are several skeins of 15-18 year old red heart baby yarn (purchased for one of two cousins who are in high school and college, respectively), and the leftovers from baby sweaters, dresses, and a hat long ago made and gifted. I carried two strands, changing single strands periodically to give a heathery look to the random striping. Image hosted by Photobucket.comI had once thought to begin and end with the same color strands, but I’ve given it up. I will be done with the end of the yarn. Two inches to go, I’d estimate. I'm no longer carting it around, so all work is done late at night. Bets are on - one night left? or three?

Old news to some -- but pleasant new read for me

Took a tour through some back issues of Knitty the other day and found this wonderful article
<-- (lookie! I made a link!) about the creative and restorative nature of knitting. If you haven't read it, click on through. I'm still wandering back to read and mull over bits - can't even bring myself to add me-too moments. Lovely to have a bit of reflection, so I'll just work on my little red sock for awhile and think.

Well, it's a start

I've done it now. There's a blog. Knitting in public meets typing aloud.

I'd write more, but this was adventure a-plenty. And there's knitting to be done.
